2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards ‘Artiste of the Year’, EL, has lashed out at those critiquing the decision to hand him the award over Bisa Kdei and other artists, describing them as ‘haters’.
The BBNZ Live rapper, born Elorm Adablah, received five awards at the music award show Saturday night, including the ultimate honour- but the decision has sparked widespread debate over whether he deserved it ahead of an artiste like Bisa Kdei, who undoubtedly had the biggest hit of the year in ‘Mansa’.
EL told Class Fm after the awards that those crying over the decision are nothing but haters.
There are always going to be criticisms coming from all sorts of places for different types of reasons. They are haters, that is what haters are there for, to be laughed at and draw inspiration from, and I guess that is just about it,”
“If you do not know EL, then you do not know what EL is about, but those who know EL are those who crowned EL and that those are the majority of the people. There are always going to be people who dispute”.
“[I have] been working hard all year round with his team and it has been an endless process from studio to shows through a tortuous long journey. I definitely saw it coming and it was only left to God to solidify it”.
Several pundits and fans alive have disputed the decision, so labelling everyone one of them as a ‘hater’ seems a bit much.
EL dear ive loved your music ever since you dropped your first sngle….but this time di3 the award should have been given to somebody else like Bisa…he deserved it…i wonder oh…whats the criteria for winning a best artist of the year by the way
