The son of former Liberian international George Oppong Weah, Timothy, has signed his first senior professional contract after French giants Paris Saint-Germain handed him a two year deal.
Timothy, 16, has been turning out for the club’s U-17 side, and has been handed the deal, set to expire in 2018, as a result of his performances.
George Weah played for PSG himself  during his legendary career, and told the club’s official website that the deal was one that makes him very happy.
“I am very proud and very happy to see my son grow into this great club that is Paris Saint-Germain,” he said.
“I played here too of course, for me it is a great pride.
“I hope the club will continue to grow, to become one of the biggest teams in the world.”
George Weah turned out for PSG, AC Milan and Chelsea, amongst others, during his legendary career. He received the World Best Player award in 1995, the only African player to ever do so. Since retiring, he has run for President in his home country and lost, although he’s currently a senator.
Timothy Weah has represented the United States, where he was born, at youth level; and would likely turn out for them rather than Liberia when he comes of age.
