An EgyptAir flight carrying 66 people has disappeared over the Mediterranean Thursday morning.
The Airbus A320, officially flight MS804, disappeared from radar just after midnight GMT (0230 Cairo), just after clearing Greek airspace and whilst still over the Mediterranean.
Officials fear it has crashed into the ocean, although a terrorist angle to the attack cannot be ruled out yet.
The Airbus had on board a total of 66 people, with 56 passengers, six crew and three security personnel. Three of the passengers are children, the BBC has noted.
The passengers include 30 Egyptians and 15 French citizens; 2 Iraqis, and 1 each from Britain, Canada, Belgium, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Sudan, Chad and Portugal.
Search and rescue is now underway. Reuters reports that the plane sent an emergency beacon two hours after the crash.
