Prophets of Doom and the Incessant Deaths in the NPP

“It seems to me most strange that men should fear seeing that death, a necessary end will come when it will come” -William Shakespeare.
After all living is but an expression of death. Irrespective of the above quote and many others, we can never get used to the idea of death. No matter how many deaths we see in a day, the thought of not seeing a parent, sibling or an acquaintance again sends chills down one’s spine.
Undoubtedly, death has made friends with the New Patriotic Party(Npp), and their recent list of “fallen soldiers” is evident.
The party had to unwillingly nibble on a bile when their Mp for Abuakwa North, JB Danquah Adu was gruesomely murdered in the comfort of his home. Then came the death of their former agriculture minister, Ernest Akubuor Debrah.
Death showed it face again and made Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, the party’s former chairman one of its many possessions. The party’s recent loss, the death of the Abetifi MP Peter Wiafe Peprah stirred an uproar and brought to bare the many laments Ghanaians had swallowed. And as usual people have ascribed spiritual connotations to these many death.
Throwback to March of this year, the founder and general overseer of The Glorious Word Ministry International, Rev. Owusu-Bempah, revealed that the opposition party NPP would suffer far worst than the death of Jake if they sit with their hands sunk in-between their thighs.
He also revealed that the 2017 general election would see a lot of bloodshed if Ghanaians do not call on God. These he said in an interview granted him on Accra based radio Okay fm.
The founder and leader of the church of Rabi has also prophesied that, the NPP would experience far more deathS this year. According to him, some people due to their insatiable quest for power and wealth has summoned top members of the party to evil spirits so they could win the November polls.
“I am not a prophet of doom but if the NPP sit down and don’t pray harder, they will witness another death which is far greater than the death of this MP” he stated in an interview on Adom News following the sudden demise of the Member of Parliament for Abetifi,Peter Wiafe Peprah.
Let me play the devil’s advocate here just for the sake of the doubting thomases. If these men of God claimed to have seen all these misfortune, isn’t it only right for them to have prayed to revoke the prophesies?
Is it really necessary for the whole of the populace to pray? Is the prayers of a single soul not enough because in the end we all will be targeting a mutual topic? Then again I ask myself if these men of God, who are purportedly living exemplary live to emulate the ways of the creator cannot pray to prevent such tragedies from befalling mankind, then what good will the prayers of “us” the unrighteous do? May prophesies be damned then.
Fast forward, whilst the men of God are clinging onto prophesies, the former general secretary of the NPP has a different tone to the situation.
Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John says the incessant deaths of leading members in the party is an act of God and people are just making mountains out of molehills. After all God giveth and taketh and He has always known best.
