Former Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, on Monday launched a clearly politically motivated personal attack on Jon Benjamin, the outspoken UK High Commissioner to Ghana.
Maxwell Kofi Jumah was ticked off after a tweet by Benjamin over the weekend appeared to refute the NPP’s narrative that the NDC’s Central Regional Chairman Alottey Jacobs, had been arrested in the UK.
The NPP had claimed that Jacobs was picked up at Heathrow on suspicion of being involved in money laundering and drug trafficking. Benjamin, in a tweet, then said that incident never took place.
Incensed by what he views as attempts by the Commissioner to help the government cover up the issue, Jumah tore into Benjamin on Neat Fm Monday.
“So if Britain wants someone as a High Commissioner to Ghana, must they appoint a fool like Jon Benjamin as their Commissioner to Ghana?” he wondered.
“That man is a fool,” he made the point again, apparently not satisfied he had been heard the first time.
When the exasperated show host tried to moderate his submissions, the belligerent Jumah ended the discussion.
“If you don’t want me to talk, then bye,” he said, ending the call.
