Black Stars Qualify For AFCON 2017 With Comfortable 2-0 Win Away To Mauritius

Andre Ayew- Afcon qualifier

The Black Stars of Ghana booked their place at the 2017 Cup of African Nations after recording an easy 2-0 over Mauritius in Port Louis.
Swansea forward Andre Ayew Dede scored his 12th international in the second half to give Ghana a well deserved lead, before Christian Atsu added a second to put the Black Stars safely into the next African Cup.
Ghana fielded a strong side for the away game, aware that a simple draw would send them through. Coach Avram Grant’s side did not disappoint, despite the absence of skipper Asamoah Gyan.
The game witnessed the debut of a new national star, as Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey made a second half cameo.
In the other Group H game, Mozambique beat Rwanda 3-2, ensuring the Black Stars are out of reach of any side in the group. Ghana joins Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Cameroon, Senegal and hosts Gabon, as the only sides to have qualified for the tourney so far.
Ghana would be hoping to win her fifth Afcon crown at next year’s tournament, having experienced final losses at both the 2010 and 2015 editions of the tourney.
