Is Kempinski Hotel Really Selling Gari Soakings For Ghc145? A Lot Of Ghanaians Certainly Seem To Think So

Kempinski Hotel has not been operating very long, but they have acquired quite the reputation for charging exorbitant rates.
They’re a ‘high class’ facility, understandably- but this latest one seems to take the cake when it comes to going overboard in charging.
Many Ghanaians online are outraged after a picture circulating shows a bowl of a meal supposedly from Kempinski, of the dish we affectionately call gari soakings- and the going price seems to be Ghc 145.
The photo has led to an outpour of rage against the company, with people dumbfounded as to how such a simple meal can go for such an outrageous price.
And the description for the menu item is certainly appealing, as is the presentation.
“Cassava flakes, smoked nuts, sugar, ice cube milk, fresh skimmed milk, water, shaved coconuts-145gh cedis” now that’s a hell of a way to describe simple gari.

Now, a friend who works at the hotel has denied the veracity of the photo, as has the company- but the photo has generated serious debate all the same.
