‘Discredited’ Dayspring Christian University Confers Honorary Doctorate On IGP

When the President himself trots around the globe with entourage in tow to accept meaningless honorary awards, it isn’t surprising other appointees would similarly follow suit.
The National Accreditation Board in 2014 announced that some Universities outside the country, including the Dayspring Christian University, are basically running scams where they award prominent people with degrees to popularise themselves in the country, despite not being accredited to do so.
Despite the unfavourable tag, the Inspector General of Police, COP John Kudalor, has accepted a honorary doctorate from the University.
The IGP accepted the conferment last month during a trip to the United States.
“The academic laurel of Doctor of Psychology- Conservative Model ad eundem was awarded to the IGP on 28th June, 2015.” The Police service announced.
“However, the award was received early June 2016, when Mr. John Kudalor visited the United States on official assignment. The Police Public Affairs Directorate is not immediately available for comment on the issue.”
The University has in the past awarded Ghanaian personalities such as former Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, former NADMO boss Kofi Portuphy and former fisheries minister Hanny Sherry Ayittey.
As we have found out, honorary degrees are not worth much these days anyway.
