Issa Rae Raises $290,000 For Alton Sterling’s Children In A Single Day


Issa Rae is an American actress and writer. She is best known as the creator of the YouTube web series Awkward Black Girl.
Issa Rae whose show “Insecure” will premiere on HBO this fall, first suggested that a scholarship fund be started for the children of Alton Sterling before getting behind it herself and starting a GoFundMe — Bossip report.
The scholarship fund has since raised nearly $290,000 in a single day.

The shooting of Alton Sterling occurred on July 5, 2016, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Sterling, a 37-year-old man, was shot several times while on his back after being tackled to the ground by two Baton Rouge police officers. Police were responding to a report that a man dressed in red and selling CDs used a gun to threaten someone outside the convenience store where Sterling was selling CDs.
