Nigeria’s Afro-pop singer Wizkid turned 26 today… and the whole GC family wish him a belated birthday.
Wiz, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun— may be just 26 years old but he is already widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians in African history. The records and stats are there for everyone to see.
After debuting on the music scene in 2010–thanks to the mentorship of Banky W– Wizkid has chopped many a success both in local and international scene. He has received over 30 “recognized” awards out of hundreds of nominations. His achievements include five-time winner of The Headies, four-time winner of Nigeria Entertainment Award, MOBO Awards recipient for Best African Act in 2012, BET Awards 2012 recipient for Best African Act and many others.
And more recently, Wizkid became the first Nigerian act to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart–thanks to assisting Drake on his monster hit single One Dance–which has topped the chart for nine consecutive weeks. This achievement is very immense because just cracking the Hot 100 it self is quite a difficult task–even  for American singers. Plus word has it that he actually solely wrote the whole song (don’t mind the songwriting credit on the album lol).
