Report: 'Leaked' Documents Show The GFA Receiving Large Sums Of Money From Government For 'Unclassified' Payments

Trouble seems to be brewing in paradise with an explosive new report by the Ghana Sports Newspaper alleging bribery on the part of government to win Black Stars games.
These ‘bribes’, the report claims, are in the form of payments made by government to the Ghana Football Association which are completely unaccounted for, described as ‘unclassified’ and ‘indemnity’ payments.
The findings are contained in a leaked document  chanced upon by the paper and published on ghanasportsonline.com.
“When the Black Stars hosted Zambia in Kumasi for instance, $100,000 and $16,000 were used as unclassified and indemnity payments for the match which Ghana won 2-1 to take control of the group.” the report indicated.
“Against Sudan at home and away, $100,000 was spent on unclassified payment where as $85,000 plus $14,000 were used for unclassified and indemnity payments for the matches with Lesotho.
“Overall, GHANA spent over $700,000 on a strange items described as ‘unclassified and indemnity payments’ on the Black Stars qualifiers for the abortive Brazil 2014 World Cup campaign.”
These seem to tie in with recent grumblings from new Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye, who complained about the excessive cash government has to pay to the GFA for Stars’ games – complaining in particular about a $1m expenditure for a recent game.
The payments have reportedly been going on for a while, and there is no accountability for what they’re are being used for, simply dubbed as ‘unclassified’.
