NPP's Maxwell Kofi Jumah Sentenced: Fine of GH¢1200 or in Default—6 Months in Prison

NPP’ Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been found guilty of causing unlawful damage to electoral material by a Kumasi Circuit Court—and he has been sentenced to a fine of GH¢1200 or in default, spend 6 months in prison.
What this means is, Jumah is supposed to pay GH¢1200 in fine and if he fails to do so, he will be thrown into prison for 6 months.
Maxwell Kofi Jumah who is a former Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency in Kumasi and one-time Deputy Minister of Local Government and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Chief Executive was convicted along with his campaign manager, Oscar Riches.

According to Daily Graphic, his campaigner manager-Oscar Riches popularly known as Ghana Beyeyie was also sentenced to pay GH¢960 or in default serve a prison term of 3 months.

The two were arrested and charged with two counts of causing unlawful damage to a photo album belonging to the Electoral Commission when they seized a ballot booklet from officials of the EC during the NPP parliamentary primary at the Asokwa constituency in 2015.

Maxwell Kofi Jumah was contesting for Asokwa constituency seat against incumbent MP-Patricia Appiagyei.
