A tragedy of epic proportions hit Tema Monday when a possibly disturbed police Lance Corporal carried out a disturbing quadruple murder-suicide.
The Lance Corporal, stationed with the RDF, killed three people, including two children, and then turned the gun on himself.
“Greater Accra Region police spokesperson ASP Juliana Obeng confirmed the incident to Myjoyonline.com”, the site wrote late Monday, “but will give no further details, not even the identity of the Lance Corporal.”
However, the site further reports that the Lance Corporal checked out a rifle from his post and took it home, shooting his mother-in-law who was bathing one of his children – killing both of them.
He then reportedly turned the gun on the other child of his, before taking himself out of this miserable world.
Police investigations continue, even if they remain tight-lipped, as they try to get to the bottom of this senseless and tragic act.
