Divers at the Rio Olympics have been worried and complaining since a pool being used turned green, instead of the normal blue.
Initially, authorities said there was no health risk as they tried to fix whatever was causing the problem but it seems they’ve not been able to fix it and has completely closed the pool.
British diver-Tom Daley wrote, “Diving pool is closed this morning.” He added; “Hopefully that means we haven’t been diving in anything too bad the last couple of days!”
“For the first few days of the Olympics, the pool had been a sparkly blue. But on Tuesday it started going green – and by that evening it had turned a lush, pond-like colour”, reports UK’s Independent.
Efforts to fix the colour must have gotten authorities to put a lot of chlorine in the water as those using the pool began to complain.
Tony Acevedo, the captain of the US water polo team complained; “This is the Olympic Games and they are putting so much chlorine in the water that people can’t see.”
He added: “You can’t have that.”
The pool has now be closed and authorises have not stated why the closure and when it will be re-opened.
