After it emerged that Nana Oye Lithuer, Minister for Ghana’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has filed a police report against Bishop Daniel Obinim, over the church flogging incident–Obinim’s aide has taken to facebook to ask what would Oye Lithur and her people do next?
It does seem Obinim’s aide, Joseph Osei Oppong Brenya who has throughout the day justified Obinim’s whipping of the two church members on various platforms thinks the fact that Obinim is doing some sort of charity entitles him to subject those he’s helping to unacceptable treatments.
Brenya wrote oh his facebook:
“Nana Oye Lithur and her people after their action will now cater for the needs of over 200 people Bishop Dr. Daniel Obinim is taking care of. Proverbs 13:24.”
GhanaCelebrities.Com reached out to Joseph Osei Oppong Brenya in the morning for comments about the shocking flogging of adults and straightforward, he sent us this:
“Proverbs 13:24 Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.”
He also spoke on Joy Fm later, quoting the same verse and saying, “As a father if your child goes wrong you have to discipline them to serve as a deterrent to others.”
As to how the situation came about, Brenya said the guy seen in the video impregnated the lady and then she proceeded to abort the baby.
“Impregnating the lady is not the problem but terminating it, which is very bad. And as a man of God he [Obinim] will not tolerate such action in his church or even among his children and that is why he called and punished them to serve as a deterrent to others who will want to engage in things like that.” he said.
“He [the boy] bought drugs and gave it to the young lady to terminate the pregnancy; any father on this earth will take that action. The girl nearly lost her life,” he claimed.
As to the two being adults enough to engage in such acts, Mr Brenya said regardless of their age, they were still the Bishops children.
And once they are under the bishop’s care he has the right to choose any form of punishment to be metered out to them when they go wrong, he added.
Brenya continued, Bishop Obinim “pays their bills and everything they need is provided for by the pastor and their family is aware of this.”
“We should condemn what triggered the bishop’s action not what he did. The earlier we try to see things the right way, the better for us,” he stated.
“We should avoid negative agenda and propaganda to destroy the man of God but rather what triggered his action,” Mr Brenya added.
