The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have reacted with extreme disappointment to the news that the sentences handed down to the Montie 3 have been remitted by the President, with the three set to be released Friday.
Government announced the decision Monday through a statement signed by the Communications Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah. But in a statement of their own, the NPP has expressed their displeasure with the decision.
Signed by the party’s Director of Communications, Nana Akomea, the statement decries the legitimacy being given to kinds of actions perpetrated by the Montie 3 by this pardon, and calls for the President to take “steps to reverse the decision”.

NPP CONDEMNS RELEASE OF MONTIE FM THREE
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has noted the statement signed by the Communications Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah which granted remission of sentence to the three jailed individuals sighted to have scandalized the courts and threatened judges of the Republic of Ghana.
We are indeed disappointed in the president of the Republic His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for this singular act which appears to be an endorsement of behaviours unacceptable in our society.
These are individuals who were jailed legally by the courts to deal with recalcitrant behaviours and a creeping social canker that would devour this nation if not checked.
We wish to state clearly that the NPP abhors disrespect for authority and would not associate with this action taken by the president.
We wish to also demand that the president takes steps to reverse the decision reached as it stands to open our judiciary to attacks that would not benefit this country.
As a result, we call on all Ghanaians to take a cue from this and ensure that they vote out this incompetent administration in order to restore law and order in the Ghanaian society. Thank you.
Signed:
Nana Akomea
Director of Communications.
