Comedian/satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM) has added his voice to calls for the outgoing Moderator of the Presbyterian church of Ghana, the Rev Professor Emmanuel Martey, to name the politicians he claims attempted to bribe him.
Speaking on Viasat 1 Saturday, KSM said publicly naming such people and exposing them to public ridicule for their horrible behaviour would be a good way to battle corruption, as it would serve as a disincentive to others.
KSM was asked on the Celebrity Fan Zone how he thought the canker of corruption could be dealt with, and he suggested by people like Rev Martey naming their alleged attempted bribers.
“How do we start [dealing with corruption]? By naming and shaming. …At a point he (Rev Martey) said if he had dogs he would have unleashed the dogs. Well you don’t have the dogs so unleash their names.
“Name them, shame them, and the action that should follow, should follow. That is the way to do it”
Rev Martey grabbed headlines a fortnight ago when he suggested some politicians attempted to bribe him with $100,000, as well as a house and a car, at his home.
He added that he refused the bribe, but he has since refused calls to name his bribers, despite many requests and taunts for him to do so.
