NDC Promises MMDCE'S Would Be Elected, Assembly Members Paid – If They Are Retained In Power

President John Dramani Mahama dropped his NDC ‘manifesto highlights’ Tuesday nights, to give Ghanaians a little taste of what to expect when the party launches its manifesto this weekend.
Mahama has presided over one of the most challenging economies in the history of Ghana, yet all of us a sudden is painting a picture of a land of milk and honey that we would enjoy if we would just keep him in power.
According to the President, if Ghanaians kindly do him the honour of reelecting him, the constitutional review commission’s recommendations for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE’s) to be elected would be implemented. Election of MMDCE’s is a local government reform that has been talked about for ages but never implemented.
“We will also implement the Constitution Review Committee’s recommendation to have MMDCE’s elected,” the President said.
Both Nana Akuffo-Addo and Papa Kwesi Nduom already back that reform.
He added that assembly members would also now be paid some allowances, another recommendation of the commission.
“We will initiate processes to implement the constitutional review commission’s recommendation to pay assembly members allowances.” he added.
