Long serving Ghanaian public servant Dr Mary Grant has died, her family has announced.
Dr Grant passed away Sunday at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, she was 88.
Dr Grant served under the government of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) as Deputy Secretary for Health and later as special appointee in charge of health and education.
She served on the council of State for over a decade after Ghana’s transition to democratic rule in 1992, and also served numerous other roles in women empowerment. She was a medical doctor by profession and an alumni of the Wesley Girls Senior High School.
Dr Grant is survived by six children and four grandchildren.
