Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has picked up a groin injury that would rule him out for at least three weeks, his club has announced.
The rarely injured forwards was playing for the side against Atletico Madrid in a league game Wednesday night when he pulled up in the 56th minute after a clash with Atleti defender Diego Godin.
He eventually went off to be replaced by Turkish international Arda Turan. The game eventually ended 1-1.
Messi will be ruled out of games against Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League, Sporting Gijon and Celta Vigo in La Liga, and World Cup qualifiers for his country Argentina against Peru and Paraguay.
