Waist trainers are for the credulous in society–especially the lazy ones looking for a quick fix to a problem that cannot be solved with such a haste fix.
Despite expert scientists have said that waist trainers do not work, celebrities all around the world continue to fool fans to make unending purchases–with Kim Kardashian leading the pack of deceit.
In Ghana, Ama K. Abebrese has in the past delved into the promo of waist trainers, a product which is globally accepted by scientists as fraud.
And actively, actress-Beverly Afaglo sells waist trainers, mainly using her social media accounts to drive sales.
How can we forget Moesha, the woman with the ridiculous figure and her twin sister-Princess Shyngle, who all credit their curves to the magic of waist trainers?
Now, Ghanaian actor turned politician-John Dumelo has decided to cash in on the waist trainers/waist wrap fraud by using his highly followed instagram account to promote sales.
Last year, I torn Ama K. Abebrese and the other Ghanaian celebrities promoting and selling waist trainers on instagram into pieces—saying, it’s stupid that these celebrities are promoting and selling a scam that does not doesn’t work.
In an article, I wrote;
It doesn’t work as the sellers and promoters claim—not if you are looking for more than temporal results says Caroline Apovian, M.D., professor of medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and a spokesperson for The Obesity Society.
Caroline Apovian, M.D told Health.Com earlier this year that; “If you’re going out and want to look really thin, I don’t see a problem with wearing one of these for an evening. In fact, wearing a waist trainer may even help boost some women’s confidence and encourage them to exercise and eat healthy. If you look in the mirror and like what you see, it can potentially be a good thing.”
“But as for the claims that these devices can actually reshape the body or trigger fat loss, there’s no evidence. In my opinion, that is complete nonsense,” Dr. Apovian said.
It’s just not that, several experts believe that regularly wearing a waist trainer can actually decrease core strength—exactly the opposite of what you want if you’re aiming for a s*xy stomach, says celebrity trainer Nicole Glor.
Yet, people continue to parade this waist training thing online, deceiving people that it works and it helps them to lose some weight—shockingly, out level headed celebrities are joining in too. Majority of these people on instagram are lame and if the few smart ones are helping sell this deceit with health risks, then where are we going?
According to Health.Com, “If a waist trainer is too tight—which many of them appear to be, if recent celeb photos are any indication—it could cause discomfort, interfere with breathing, or contribute to heartburn.
“Your stomach might get pushed up beyond the diaphragm, which could cause reflux,” says Dr. Apovian. “If you’re wearing one and you experience those symptoms, that’s a definite sign that you need to loosen it or take it off.”
Shockingly, John Dumelo who ought to know better has joined the global deceit train–by promoting waist trainers instead of condemning the product for what it claims to do against the finding of experts.

Remember, there’s no difference between waist trainers and waist wraps–the same value, just change of names.
