The Military High Command has unequivocally denied reports that it assigned some soldiers to provide protection to the President’s brother Ibrahim Mahama, instead placing the blame squarely on the soldiers of Ibrahim and the officers involved.
A statement signed by Colonel Aggrey-Quashie, Director Public Affairs for the Forces, said that the Military High Command condemns the actions of the soldiers involved, clarifying that they did not assign anyone to specifically protect Ibrahim Mahama.
“The Military High command has taken a serious exception of the bad conduct in respect of soldiers who participated in a health walk and were alleged to have been providing close protection to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama.” the statement read.

“The Military High Command wish to state that it has not assigned any soldier as body guard to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama. The soldiers in question were assigned as part of the security detail at the flagstaff House,” it added.
Ibrahim Mahama had become embroiled in a political controversy engulfing the Ghana Armed Forces after he was spotted at a health walk he held over the weekend dubbed ‘Walk With Ibrahim’, and he was followed around by an armed escort in military fatigues, raising the question of why the President’s brother should be entitled to such a large scope of  military protection.
Ibrahim was also reportedly escorted by armoured cars, which were at his beck and call.
But the military are denying assigning him any protection, claiming he lifted the soldier’s from the detail at the Presidential palace.
