Tv show host Chantelle Asante has expressed disappointment with NPP Parliamnetary Candidate for Awutu Senya West, George Andah, for his comments talking about the husband, or lack thereof, of foreign minister Hannah Tetteh.
Andah, a former business executive, shocked the nation recently when he declared at a political rally that his opponent, Hannah Tetteh, should show the people her husband, a comment many deemed sexist.
“I came here with my wife, and children. Please tell Hanna to also come and show us her husband,” he said.
But Chantelle Asante, host of the Celebrity Fan Zone on Viasat 1, said during last weekend’s show that Andah’s comments were disappointing, and showed off a side that looked more like Donald Trump.
“I was very disappointed when I first heard the story.” Asante said.
“I have met George a few times and it’s that whole thing about being unmarried making you a lesser person in this society especially when you are trying to go for contracts and all those different things. I think in this stage of the campaign, he shouldn’t be throwing those kinds of comments. It always reminds me of something Donald Trump would say,” she added.
Andah has refused to apologise for the comment despite significant backlash, saying his was in response to attacks from the NDC maligning his character.
