Former Ghana Coach E.K Afranie Dies In Car Crash


Former coach of the Ghana National U-20 team Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie, more commonly known as E.K Afranie, is reportedly dead after being involved in a bizarre car crash.
Afranie died after an ambulance carting him to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra was involved in the accident, killing the veteran coach.
He had suffered a mild stroke in recent times and was receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, but unfortunately whilst being transferred to Korle-Bu in Accra the ambulance crashed and he died from the accident.
His body has subsequently been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital.
Afranie was coach of the 2001 Ghana U-20 team that reached the final of the World Youth Championships, coaching numerous future stars such as Michael Essien, Derek Boateng, Sule Muntari, John Mensah, John Panstil and many others. He also coached U-20 teams to the 1991 and 1997 U-20 world cups.
