GTV disappointed millions of Ghanaians Sunday afternoon with their inability to broadcast the crucial Black Stars vs Egypt world cup qualifier.
GTV once again lived up to their mantle as a near useless ‘station of the nation’ when they could not bring to Ghanaians such a crucial national game, and failed to offer any explanation for doing so.
And since they also did not inform the public of their inability to telecast the game, many people waited until the last minute still hoping the game would come on.
So matters were worsened when during the course of the game, the station sent out this boneheaded, tone deaf tweet that should surely get someone fired.
Sorry for our inability to show the Live game between Egypt & Ghana.
We promise to show a Repeat and Highlights of the game tomorrow.— Ghana Television (@GBC_Ghana) November 13, 2016
Unsurprisingly, Ghanaians were in no mood for such a lame apology, not to mention watching a repeat of a game we had lost by 2-0.
Having sent out the apology on twitter, twitter users did what they did best, sending back mean and hilarious tweets back towards the account of the nation’s broadcaster. Most were pissed off, wondering how GTV could insist on collecting tv licence fee when they cannot even telecast such a crucial match. Others said this is business as usual for the station, whilst at least one person mounted a defence of the station.
Check out some of the meanest and funniest tweets from an infuriated populace at our near useless national broadcaster.
HAHAHAHAH. DNT TRY GHANAIANS.
I LIKE THAT COMMENTATOR WHO SAID HE WILL PAY WHEN TRUMP STEPS DOWN.
MASRE SAAAAAAA ASU
Seriously this thing of having to flip through countless pages is really annoying. I always stop at the 2nd page. Times are hard for everyone so don’t expect us to spend all our bundle going through one item of news.
Stop been greedy.
