It happened – finally! In the interest of promoting national unity and working towards a peaceful election, two of the nation’s biggest dancehall stars and eternal foes, Samin and Shatta Wale, spectacularly brought an end to their feud at Saminifest 2016.
The annual mega concert, organised by the ‘Linda’ hitmaker, saw an appearance by the brash ‘dancehall king’, performing before the man he has mocked relentlessly on twitter all throughout the year as ‘Olu’.
Shatta Wale’s ‘surprise’ appearance brought the roof down on the place, as he joined Samini for a joint performance. The pair performed each others hits as the crowd went wild.
Shatta Wale’s appearance at the show had been a tug of war of ‘will he, won’t he?’ – as some reports claimed he would be there whilst the star’s team sent out a press release denying he would.
But he eventually showed up, with the two saying the move was to show Ghanaians peace was needed as we move towards December 7’s hotly contested polls.
Saminifest 2016 came off at the International Trade Fair Centre in La, Accra, on the rain soaked night of Saturday December 3, 2016. The night saw performances from, aside the aforementioned giants – VVIP, Dunsin, Kwaw Kese, Kaakie, Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata and more.
