Lebanon Moves To Abolish Law That Allows Rapists To Escape Punishment By Marrying Their Victims

kIn Lebanon and other part of the middle east, rape is seen as an attack on the honor and pride of a woman and her family. Most countries around the middle east such as Lebanon, a victim of rape is forced to rather marry her attacker so the attacker will escape punishment making the act of rape strive.
The silent majority suffering this shame and trauma of rape, are innocent young girls forced into marriages to save some family honor.
The Lebanese lawmakers on Wednesday took the first step to overturn a law that allows a rapists to avoid punishment, if they marry their victims.
The law makers came to their senses a day after protesters wearing blood stained wedding gowns, demonstrated against them just a stone throw away from the parliament in the capital Beirut.
The prime minister, Saad Hariri  announced on TV to the citizenry that, a committee in parliament has been tasked and had agreed to push to abolish such law opressing women and young girls in the country
