Homeless Folk In Iran Live In Graves To Escape The Cold (HEARTBREAKING PHOTOS)

lord have mercy
A series of photos taken by a photographer of homeless people in Iran has sparked outrage and calls for action from the country’s President as they depict scenes of unimaginable horror.
The photos show the homeless in the country forced to seek shelter in graves in a cemetery in Shahriar, a town not far from the capital Tehran, as a means to escape the biting cold that descends on the country.
MailOnline reports that Iranian academy award winning director Asghar Farhadi, wrote an open letter to president Hassan Roujhani to take some action over the sickening situation.
The photos, taken by photographer Saeed Gholamhoseini, has also sparked public outcry. Those forced to live in the graves say they have been shunned by society, with one woman reporting rocks were thrown at her.
The situation has sparked national debate, and the President has addressed the issue during a speech broadcast on national tv.
Who can accept … that fellow human beings who suffer social ills have to take refuge in graves because of homelessness?” Rouhani wondered in the speech.

“I have heard about people in western countries who sleep on cardboard under bridges out of poverty, or those who sleep in metro stations, but not in graves.

“To solve these issues we must all unite and leave aside partisan issues and differences and address the basic problems of the country.” he added.

The photographer, Saeed, says about 50 men, women and children live in the graves at the cemetery.
