Two Gas Stations Closed Down In Ga West For Safety Violations

As we usually do in this country, people only do their jobs in the aftermath of disasters – and even then it only lasts for a few days or weeks, however long it would take for us all to forget about the disaster.
The aftermath of June 3 also saw some very ‘tough’ inspectors shutting down fuel stations and the like, but it didn’t take long for that fervour to fizzle.
Two gas stations in Amasaman in the Ga West municipality of the Greater Accra Region have been closed down for safety violations, GraphicOnline reports.
Safety inspectors who visited either found that one had a leaking pipe running under its main gas cylinder, a fire hazard if there ever was one.
The second facility could not produce its operating license, whilst the floor did not meet safety requirements and there were no fire fighting equipment on site.
A team of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), led by the Greater Accra Regional Fire Commander, Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) Ebenezer Simpson, carried out the inspections. Both stations have been closed until further notice.
