President Akufo Addo–Your Ministers Are Too Many, Reduce Them And Save Ghana Some Money Says Prof. Kojo Yankah

Ghana’s new president-Nana Akufo Addo has created new Ministries, of which some seem to be sharing the same functions.

Prof. Kojo Yankah, founder and former president of the African University of Communications (AUCC) has commented on the number of Ministries the new NPP government has put out–sort of saying, they are too many and some are really unnecessary.

After the President named his second batch of nominated Ministers yesterday, Prof Yankah took to facebook, asking President Akufo Addo to cut down his cabinet to save Ghanaian taxpayers some money.

He wrote: “Dear President Akuffo-Addo, is it possible to reduce your Cabinet to save the tax-payer some money, noting that every Ministry carries a huge bureaucracy? I believe you can still meet your manifesto pledges by asking Minister of Local Government to handle creation of more regions; Minister of Health to handle Sanitation; Senior Minister’s office to handle Monitoring & Evaluation; Transport to combine Railways Development. And then maybe create two deputies in each Ministry to oversee the various sectors? Only an idea.”

Prof. Kojo Yankah’s view captures that of a lot of Ghanaians which we’ve come across on social media so far.
