Gambian President-elect Adama Barrow has suffered a personal tragedy as his eight year old son has died after suffering a dog bite.
Habibu Barrow got bitten on Sunday but died whilst being rushed to the hospital, the BBC has reported.
The incident occurred in Manjai, not far from the tiny West African nation’s capital Banjul.
Barrow missed his son’s funeral as he is currently in Senegal where he is in hiding till his inauguration, set to happen Thursday, January 19.
Barrow won elections last year but long time leader Yahya Jammeh is refusing to cede power, claiming the election was filled with irregularities which led to his loss.
