Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had his inaugural speech dogged with allegations of plagiarism, after portions of his speech were lifted from inauguration speeches of former US Presidents.

Donald Trump gave his own inaugural address on Friday and some people online are claiming he also committed his own plagiarism offense.

Except Trump did not plagiarise a former President, he is far more flashy than that – Trump is accused of plagiarising the masked villain of 2012’s box office Batman blockbuster, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

Bane, in the movie, said he was taking over the city of Gotham from the elites and giving it back to the people.

“We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you, the people,”  Bane said.

Trump echoed a similar sentiment in his speech.

“Today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another — but we are transferring power from Washington, DC, and giving it back to you, the people,”  Trump said in his speech.

Whilst not exactly plagiarism, people online are just making fun of the President for taking from a movie villain and putting it into his speech.
