It seems the constant adoration his followers heap on him has gotten into his head – perhaps his advisors should sit him down and tell him no-one is above the law.

Even Donald Trump who thinks he’s God’s gift to man knows when he’s sued, he better appear in court.

Obinim’s case involving him flogging two members of his church was back in court today, and the prosecutor failed to make an appearance, pissing off the man of God.

The case stems from the viral video of Obinim flogging a member of his congregation who was pregnant, plus the boy who impregnated her, right in front of his entire congregation.

He later claimed they were his adopted children , but he was arrested and subsequently charged, but the case has stalled in court.

Speaking to the press after the case was adjourned, Obinim said he does not understand why he has to keep coming to court when he is taking care of the children involved.

“Every week, the girl (the victim) goes for anti-natal care at the hospital and me the one taking care of her is being toyed with in court,” he said.

He added that for a man of God of his stature, it’s even disrespectful for him to be in court.

“Even the judge is not happy with what is going on, it is even disrespectful for me a Bishop to be in court.

“I have a discerning spirit I see the Judge is not happy to see me in court. Some Judges are even shocked to know that while I’m being prosecuted I’m still keeping the children. The foolishness being exhibited in this case is too much.”

He might think it’s disrespectful for him to be in court, but that’s just the way the law works. Being a religious leader does not entitle one to breaking laws.

The case has been adjourned to 17th February.
