A Chinese man is making international news after incredibly cycling 500km home for Chinese New Year before realising, after 30 days on the road, that he was going in the wrong direction!
The man in question, a migrant worker, wanted to travel to his home in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang province, from Rizhao – a journey of over 1,700km.
Being away from home and close to broke, he decided to cycle the route, hoping to reach home in time for Chinese New Year.
According to the BBC however, he was stopped by police in the central Chinese province of Anhui, 500km off his intended course, after travelling for 30 days.
“The unnamed man could not read maps, meaning he had to rely on others for directions.” the BBC said.
Somehow, all those people kept giving him wrong directions?
In the end, the police who stopped him (for cycling on a highway off limits to cyclists), and toll booth workers – paid for a ticket for him back home.
