The throwback to colonial days theme in this video is so striking that it’s ‘a miracle’ that none of the church members can particularly pick up on it.
The below video, spotted online, shows a white priest in a Catholic Church (?) administering a sort of ritual, which involves lashing the church members with a whip and then shaking their hands.
The church congregation, composed entirely of blacks, walk up submissively to this white priest, take their lash, their handshake, and quietly walk away.
We can’t really confirm where the video was taken but it’s safe to say it’s contents are particularly disturbing.
The harmful effects of religion far transcend preachers asking their congregation to drink engine oil or building mansions from their little pennies – the mental side of the equation is very important as well. There is no question religion was used as a tool to control Africans during the dark days of colonialism and slavery, and those shackles have not been broken till this day, as aptly demonstrated in this video.
The symbolism of the white slave master whipping his slaves to keep them in line, who meekly accept, all under the auspices of the Lord – is stark and disturbing in this video.
So what is going on in this video, and is there any rational justification for it?
