Emmanuel Adebayor Joins Turkish Side Istanbul Basaksehir

blankTogolese international Emmanuel Adebayor Sheyi has joined Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir on a one and a half year deal.

The much travelled Adebayor last played for Crystal Palace in 2016, but left at the end of the season and has been clubless since.

Basaksehi, who are having a great season and are second in the table, are hoping the immense experience of the 32 year old would provide more goals and keep their title challenge alive.

“He was one of the players on our transfer short list,” said director Mustafa Erogut.

“The player is impressed by the club’s project and the president’s vision so it is clear to us that the club and the player will contribute to each other.”

Adebayor played for his country Togo at the just ended Cup of Nations as they exited from the first round. He has played for Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspurs and Real Madrid in a spectacular career that has seen its fair share of controversy.
