Kumawood Director Blasts Martha Ankomah For Saying She Wouldn’t Act Kumawood Again

Kumawood director Jackson Bentum has hit out at Martha Ankomah for saying she does not take Kumawood scripts because they are usually only about witchcraft.

Bentum, an award winning director in his own right, says the actress knows nothing about directing of movies and thus, she should not talk about matters in which she has no expertise.

“She doesn’t know anything about film making. She’s just an actress so she should talk about her roles. Ask her what is the meaning of Horror Movies? I can mention 1000s of American, Indian and Chinese witchcraft movies. Those are part of film making.” he told Seancitygh in annoyance.

He added: “Which movies are they also shooting? Room to room and only love movies? People are tired of watching those movies”,

In his estimation, Martha’s arguments make little sense since even Hollywood and others make witchcraft movies.

Actress Martha Ankomah is in this trouble because she had said that her reluctance to act Kumawood roles is because too many of their scripts revolve around witchcraft and the use of ‘juju’.

Speaking with Hitz Fm, Ankomah said the worst part of such stories is that the insertion of the juju does not even make sense story-wise, and therefore for her she would not waste her time acting such roles.

“I love Kumawood movies but what I dislike about their movies is the fetish stuff they inculcate into them.” she told Andy Dosty.

“Apart from that, I love their storylines and they use to have really good movies like ‘Kumasi y)nko)’ but of late most of their movies portray witchcraft and that does not motivate me to shoot with them,”
