Akufo-Addo ‘Lied’ When He Said 2016 GDP Growth Was The Worst In 23 Years – It’s Actually Worst In 22 Years – NDC MP Proudly Says

NDC MP for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Cassiel Ato Forson, took to the floor of Parliament Thursday to ‘correct’ the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for making a ‘mistake’ during his presentation of the 2017 State of the Nation’s Address.

Ato Forson, taking on a portion of the President’s State of the Naton Address where he claimed the NDC’s GDP growth for last year was the worst in 23 year, said it was not 23 years but just 22.

Well, we guess that’s much better!

During his State of the Nation’s Address Tuesday, the President said:

“Notwithstanding the record amount of financial resources at the disposal of the previous government, Ghana’s GDP growth in 2016 (including oil) is estimated at 3.6 per cent. This is the lowest GDP growth in about 23 years.”,

But Ato Forson indignantly took to the floor of the house Thursday to set the President straight.

He noted that GDP growth rate under the Rawlings administration in 1994 was 3.6%, so last year’s figure was the worst in 22, not 23 years as the President claimed.

He said if the President was coming to give such a crucial speech, he better get his facts right.
