Founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor, says she’s fearful for her life under the Akufo-Addo led administration.
According to her, the current President hates her and due to that animus, she fears for her safety.
Akua Donkor has been out of the public eye for a while since the last elections, and unlike many political leaders, she has yet to make an appearance at any political event this year – from inauguration to State of the Nation’s address to Ghana @ 60.
Speaking on Kasapa Fm, she said it’s due to the President’s hatred of her that she is not being invited to state functions.
“President Akufo Addo hates me, he doesn’t want to see me anywhere he goes.” she told the station.
“…Once the elections are over he should learn to treat everyone equally…whether they voted for him or not.
“During his inauguration I was not invited, the same thing happened during his presentation of the state of the Nation address recently and the latest is the independence day celebration in Accra. What sort of wrong have I done to the President to be treated this way,” Madam Akua Donkor wondered.
The illiterate farmer, who was one of the contestants disqualified from last year’s elections by the Electoral Commission, used to occupy a place of prominence under the NDC administration – and sometimes towed along on state visits. She allegedly even got some goodies from former Presdient Mahama for her loyalty, but it seems that well has dried up now with the change in government.
Do you think President Akufo-Addo, assuming he’s behind the freezing out of Madam Donkor, is doing the right thing?
