A 54 year old father of eight has become the latest in a long string of suicides in Ghana, found hanging near his compound at Saka, a suburb of Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
Ayaaba Daduda was found hanging by a rope on a tree behind his house, dead from an apparent suicide.
His body has been deposited at the morgue of the Zebilla District Hospital awaiting autopsy.

“The facts of the case are that the deceased Mr. Ayaaba Daduda, aged 54 years, alleged to be partially insane from Saka a suburb of Zebilla, on Wednesday 15th March 2017 at about 5:00am, was seen to have hanged himself with a rope on a tree behind his house.” Crime Officer in Zebilla, Inspector Owusu Boakye told Citi News.
The deceased, aside his eight children, also left behind two wives. Police say he left no note explaining his actions.
His death adds to the numerous cases of suicides reported in Ghana within the past fortnight – which commenced when the tragic news of the suicide of an MP’s daughter broke – only to be followed by many more cases of suicide across the country.
