Ghanaian Dancehall Musician, Globetrotter and BET Awards Winning Act, Stonebwoy named himself as the front-liner in the dancehall genre in Ghana on an International platform in Jamaica and that attracted criticism from some fans and his fellow acts like Jupitar De General.
Speaking to Berla Mundi on GhOne Tv, the Bhim Nation President has detailed tangible reasons for his claims.
StoneBwoy accepted he could have acknowledged other Dancehall acts in that interview but at the moment he was the one in the seat and by reflex, no other particular name came to mind. He, however, noted that after his claim, he emphasized “but I am not the only Dancehall act in Ghana” and to him, that statement boxes acknowledgement to all acts in the fraternity from underground to champions and he sees no reason why anybody who is also in a comfortable lead should take offense for not being singled out.
Talking about Jupitar who taunted StoneBwoy most over that comment, the Ashaiman based Artiste said “Jupitar is my brother” and that ushered him to quash claims that he threw jabs at the “Enemy” singer. He revealed that the “Migraines” song in which he mentioned ‘Jupiter’ was recorded in March 2016 and reiterated he only meant the planet Jupiter and not the Ghanaian Dancehall General.
Stonebwoy said though “I am the only Ghanaian dancehall act verified on Instagram” he doesn’t take delight in competing others who claim “Kings” in the Genre even as he has the numbers and statistics to do so, hence naming himself as a present day ruler in the Ghanaian Dancehall music is not far from being appropriate.
Highlighting on the running debate of who is actually an authentic dancehall musician in Ghana, Livingstone Etse Satekla explained that music is nothing without culture and Dancehall being an African product, its culture influencing it by way of another African language or rhythm must not classify it as not original.
A street has been named after the “Go Higher” singer in Ashaiman and he says that called on him to meet authorities in Ashaiman to strategize some developmental plans from constructing roads to others.
