It’s official – former Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has been reappointed to the position by the Ghana Football Association.

Appiah, who handled the team a few years ago, was chosen by the six member committee set up by the FA to select Avram Grant’s replacement.

A statement on the official site of the FA confirmed the news, which had been heavily hinted at in the local media.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named James Kwesi Appiah as the new coach of Senior National Team, the Black Stars.” the statement read.

“The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the GFA on Tuesday after approving the report of the six-man coaching search committee.”

The statement continued: “Appiah will be handed a two-year contract and will start his duties on 1st May, 2017.
