Former Akwatia MP and NDC hotshot Baba Jamal has threatened to lead a demonstration against former President John Dramani Mahama himself.
According to Baba, he would be forced to take this step if the former President decides not to contest the NDC’s primaries ahead of the 2020 general elections.
Speaking on Okay Fm, Jamal said Mahama is the one true leader the NDC has and therefore if he refuses to step up they would have to force him to do so.
“If President Mahama says he is not contesting again, we will demonstrate against him; we will march to his house to demonstrate till he consents to contest for the party because we don’t have any leader apart from him,” he said.
“If he doesn’t contest who will contest for us?” Jamal wondered.
The question of the next NDC flagbearer has already started dominating the headlines in the country. For some in the NDC such as Baba Jamal and Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Mahama is the only possible choice and would be forced to contest even if he doesn’t want to. To others, he’s the problem.
All through it all, Mahama himself has not committed one way or another to leading the party into another elections.
