The mum of former Black Stars defender Samuel Osei Kuffour, Gloria Abena Ateah Osei Kuffour, who died earlier this year, would be buried this weekend in Kumasi,

The final rites for Madam Abena Atteah would be a three day marathon which commences Friday, April 28 and ends on Sunday, April 30. The funeral itself comes off on Saturday, April 29.

Kuffour’s mum was a strong influence on his career, literally selling everything she had to get his career started. The famous story is often told of how she sold her television set to get him his first pair of football boots.

Fellow legendary Ghanaian football players expected to make the funeral includes Tony Baffoe, Stephen Appiah, CK Akunnor, Augustine Arhinful and Laryea Kingston.

Gloria Osei Kuffour was 70. May she rest in peace.
