Chinese Embassy Donates GHc10,000 And Other Items To Attorney General’s Office

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Madam Sun Baohong has donated some items to the office of the Attorney General. The items donated which includes desktop computers, printers, UPS and a cheque for GHc10,000 is to support the Attorney General’s Office towards organizing a stakeholders’ consultative workshop, on the office of the Special Prosecutor Bill, 2017.

According to the Ambassador, the relationship between China and Ghana is flourishing  with effective cooperation in various fields and sectors.

According to the Ambassador, her government had always educated its nationals staying and working in foreign countries to always abide by the rules and regulations of their host countries as well as to contribute to the economic and social development of these countries.

“We support the new government of Ghana to carry out anti-corruption campaigns, and expect to strengthen our cooperation and exchanges on both domestic and international combat against corruption,” she said.

Receiving the donation from the Chinese Ambassador, Madam Gloria Akuffo, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice said a Bill on the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor had already been put together and that a stakeholders’ conference would be held soon.

The  donation by the Chinese comes at a time when China has been heavily criticized for the involvement of its nationals in illegal mining activities in Ghana.
