The family of Captain Maxwell Mahama, now Major Mahama has said soldiers wanted to wipe out the entire Denkyire-Obuasi on the day Mahama was lynched by the mob–and all we can say is, REALLY?
All exaggeration aside, how can the military do this in a democratic country?
Zakaria Sakara, spokesperson for the late Mahama’s family said on 3FM that;
“Indeed on the first day, all the soldiers who came there said look, this village must be wipe out, and out of anger all of them, they don’t think that [residents of the] village deserve to live.”
He added, “So why should we, in pursuit of justice, go and kill innocent people there as well, the only way we can get that justice is to allow the law to take its course,” he said. “It is painful but in trying to soothe your pain you don’t inflict pain on others.”
