The family of the late Major Maxwell Mahama have paid a visit to the site of his murder in Denkyira-Obuasi.

A delegation made up of immediate relatives such as his parents and his brother, plus other external family members from Tumu, made the trip to the Central Regional town.

Some relatives of his widow, Barbara Mahama, were also part of the delegation.

The purpose of the trip was solely to see the site of the captain’s brutal murder last month.

Major, then Captain Maxwell Mahama, was killed by residents of the town one morning as he went jogging. The major was allegedly mistaken for an armed robber after a resident saw his pistol and raised an alarm.

However, developments since his death point towards other possible reasons, such as the anti galamsey task force he was leading in the area, contributing towards his death.
