The West Africa 2017 Sports Betting Summit will be taking place in Nigeria from the July 17-19th. The event, held by Eventus International, is one of the most significant annual gaming conferences on the calendar and aims to stimulate and explore the emerging markets in West African countries, Ghana notwithstanding. The prestigious summit functions as a gathering place for all sectors of the gaming industry with software providers, operators, regulators, bookmakers, and investors all present to network and collaborate on issues and business deals, as well as share insights and expertise with each other.

The Sports Betting Summit is a sales platform, but it is also a social space for debating and sharing ideas. The focus this year, as in previous years, will be on emerging markets and opportunities for the gaming industry: a market that is rapidly growing for a number of reasons.

Africa hasn’t long been associated with opportunities in the iGaming market, but markets change and grow all of the time. You only have to look at the rise of Macau over Vegas as the international gaming destination to see how times and trends can change, and the market in West Africa is growing for a number of reasons.

Advances in the country’s infrastructures and the ongoing evolution of the online world are leading to constant developments. Countries like Nigeria and Ghana are advancing the accessibility of their online payment methods, making transactions much smoother. Combine this with Africa’s love for sports, and it becomes clear how much potential the industry has to flourish.

The conference also aims to explore advanced yet localized strategies for growth and profit, taking into account and navigating the changing and expanding regulations that each region faces.

Principle Consultant of 1710 Gaming Limited, U.K., Christina Thakor-Rankin, is chairing the Summit this year and is described by event organizer Jordan Crossley as being an industry legend. He says, “Christina has years of experience working of different issues on the gaming sector… We look forward to seeing her expertise being put into practice at the Sports Betting West Africa Summit.”

The event has been moved from its originally planned location at Eko Hotels and instead will be held at the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino. The new location better fits the caliber of the guests, presenters, and attendees, as well as providing a number of extra facilities that will make casual networking much easier.

The 5-star hotel is located in the center of the Victoria Islands commercial district and will allow conference attendees to enjoy luxury accommodations as well as opportunities to play their favorite games with other ticket holders after a long day of business.

The Federal Palace Hotel and Casino also features a number of fine dining options, such as the buffet at the Explorers Restaurant or the Pool Deck Restaurant, and the Ancestors bar. The Pool Club also has two tennis courts, outdoor fitness, a jogging track, a game room, and an 18-hole adventure golf course for guests’ pleasure.

Crossley says that “This year’s event will be much bigger and better than ever before, allowing us to offer more opportunities and floor space for sponsors and exhibitors.” There are a limited number of places available for the event, so Eventus International encourage those who are involved in the industry and interested in the conference to book their seat now. You can get more information about registration at the Eventus website.
