We reported Friday on a landmark achievement of students at the All Nations University College in Koforidua, whose GhanaSat-1 satellite successfully reached orbit.
The GhanaSat-1 is the first satellite of its kind launched by Ghana to successfully reach orbit, and aside feeling proud of the achievement, it has a lot of practical implications for us as well.
The team leader of the project, Dr Richard Damoah, has explained quite thoroughly the practical implications of satellite technology in an interview with GhanaWeb.
According to him, investing more in satellites would allow us to improve environmental monitoring, as the satellite can give an aerial view of a wide area. For instance, it can be used to monitor and aid effectively combat the menace of galamsey.
Dr Damoah also spoke about the historic nature of their succesful launch.
