A man who claims to be a diver employed by Asamoah Gyan following the disappearance of Castro and Janet Bandu three years ago says he managed to find the bodies of the duo at the bottom of the river but the gods would not allow him to bring it back.
The man, identified as Samuel Odartey Lamptey, said the duo are dead and not missing as some people claim and he definitely found their bodies.
Lamptey spoke to Kofi TV and spilled his guts, claiming Asamoah Gyan contacted him just after the two went missing to find them for him if he could.
“I was called two days after the incident and I agreed to go and help them. It was in the evening but I decided to go and search for them right away. They rented a canoe for me and I set off. I found them under the water after about four days,” he said.
The diver said despite finding the bodies, a god, who appeared to him in the form of the snake, stopped him from bringing them up.
“I saw their bodies but when I tried to touch them, a big snake appeared and warned me not to try it, I went back and asked what I could do and I was told there was the need for some rituals to be performed,” he said.
“The only way the spirit would allow me to bring Castro’s body back, was to perform some customary rites for both of them, when I told Asamoah Gyan about it, he said his concern was Castro and that he does not know the lady, so I had to stop at a point,” he added.
Hiplife star Castro and a female companion, Bandu, disappeared on the Volta River in Ada whilst vacationing there alongside Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan in June 2014. Despite numerous days of searching, their bodies where never found, leading some people to claim they might not be dead.
According to Mr Lamptey, however, they are dead and that they lost their lives because they failed to heed to warnings not to go to that part of the river.
